Senior Scientist, In Vivo Study Manager

GigaGen seeks a talented, highly motivated Senior Scientist, In Vivo Study Manager. The successful candidate will support internal and external in vivo studies in oncology, infectious disease, and transplant biology by generating and overseeing study protocols, tracking the ongoing study progress, and coordinating sample endpoint collections. The position will include extensive project management, working closely with GigaGen’s in vivo group and principal investigators, including the VPs of Immunology and Oncology. This position will report to the VP of Oncology.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Protocol development and project management of in vivo studies in oncology, infectious disease, and transplant biology
  • IACUC protocol writing and management
  • Careful record keeping and data analysis
  • Management of material logistics, including acquisition, testing, and preparation for studies
  • Data presentation
  • Scientific writing for reports and IND submission
  • Mentor and train junior lab members in in vivo techniques, protocol development, project management, and data analysis

Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in biology, biomedical sciences, cancer biology, or immunology or a related field and 2 years of industry experience OR BS/MS with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Extensive experience with in vivo studies is a must
  • Experience with CRO management
  • Interest in project management is required, prior experience is a plus
  • Able to communicate with a variety of individuals and deliver results in a timely fashion
  • Precision, attention to detail, and organization are essential skills for this position

Senior Scientist, Antibody Purification

GigaGen seeks a talented, highly motivated Senior Scientist, Antibody Purification. The successful candidate will support the expression and purification of antibodies and antibody derivatives for early in vitro and in vivo efficacy studies. This will include extensive lab work to develop protocols for the expression and purification of novel formats, as well as planning and management of routine projects. This position will initially work closely with current scientists and techs, with the expectation of eventually taking over daily management of the protein core and scaling up current processes. This position will report to the VP or Process Development.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Develop protocols for expression and purification of antibodies and antibody derivatives, including antibodies of different isotypes, bispecific antibodies, and antibody fusions
  • Optimize and implement workflows for routine protein expression, purification and documentation
  • Develop and implement protocols for protein characterization
  • Mentor and train junior lab members in routine expression and purification tasks
  • Troubleshoot and improve processes when needed
  • Maintain LC instrumentation and help plan for future expansion
  • Manage protein purification and expression projects, including developing proposals, organizing RAs, and analyzing and presenting data

Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in biochemistry, chemical engineering, structural biology or a related field and 2 years of industry experience OR BS/MS with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Extensive experience with antibody purification is a must, including affinity, polishing, and formulation techniques
  • Experience with FPLC and HPLC operation and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in protein analytical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, western blot, SEC, ELISA, affinity measurement, and flow cytometry
  • Familiarity with protein expression platforms, expression construct design, and mammalian cell culture
  • Interest in project management is required, prior experience is a plus
  • Able to communicate with a variety of individuals and deliver results in a timely fashion

Research Associate

GigaGen seeks a talented, highly motivated Research Associate to work alongside PhD-level scientists on research funded by a $50 million co-development deal with Grifols, plus Phase II SBIR grants from the NCI and NIAID. This project involves high-throughput discovery and development of therapeutic antibody drug candidates from human and mouse immune repertoires. The work involves significant cell culture work, including a bioreactor and flow cytometry. The ideal candidate has a recent bachelor’s degree from a leading research institution, plus 5-10 years of laboratory research experience.

  • Mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Recombinant protein expression
  • Processing primary cell samples
  • Flow cytometry
  • General molecular biology, such as PCR and nucleic acid extraction
  • High throughput screening technologies
